As Exposure celebrates 15 years of empowering women through skateboarding, the world’s largest women’s skateboarding event returns to Encinitas November 7–8 in continued support of CRC’s domestic violence programs.
ENCINITAS, Calif. — October 1, 2026 —This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Community Resource Center (CRC®) and Exposure Skate are joining together to raise awareness about domestic violence, promote healthy relationships and connect people with support, leading up to the 15th annual Exposure Skate event November 7–8 at Encinitas Community Park.
Exposure is the world’s largest and longest-running women’s skateboarding event, drawing Olympians, X Games champions, rising stars and thousands of fans to North County San Diego. Beyond competition, Exposure has long used skateboarding as a platform for empowerment, community and support for people impacted by domestic violence. In 2025 alone, 200 skaters representing 22 countries competed at Exposure. At both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, roughly 60% of the women’s skateboarding field had gotten their competitive start at Exposure.
Community Resource Center (CRC) hosted its annual Jingle & Mingle holiday fundraiser on Dec. 4 at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, bringing together more than 140 supporters, volunteers and staff to raise critical funds for programs that provide food, shelter, safety and hope for North County neighbors in need.
This November, athletes, families and fans are invited to Encinitas for two days of street, bowl and vert competition featuring some of the world’s top women skateboarders. The event continues Exposure’s longstanding commitment to supporting people impacted by domestic violence, including through its partnership with CRC.
Since its founding, Exposure has helped raise $304,000 to support survivors of domestic violence. Since 2013, Exposure’s event has donated more than $88,000 to support CRC’s domestic violence programs, helping provide safety, resources and support to individuals and families experiencing abuse.
“I’m a survivor, but today I think of myself more as a warrior,” said Jess Robledo, Programs Director at Exposure Skate and a certified Domestic Violence Advocate. “Skateboarding helped me find strength and confidence, and my domestic violence advocacy training with CRC gave me tools to turn my experience into something that can help others. Through Exposure, I get to create spaces where women and girls know their voices matter, they are powerful and they deserve healthy, safe relationships.”
Robledo leads Exposure’s youth programs focused on empowerment, social-emotional learning, community and compassion.
“Exposure was founded to create opportunities for women and girls in skateboarding, but our mission has always extended beyond the sport,” said Amelia Brodka, co-founder of Exposure Skate and Olympic skateboarder. “We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with CRC and the opportunity to use skateboarding to bring people together, raise awareness and support people in our community impacted by domestic violence.”
Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical, emotional and financial abuse and stalking. Recognizing warning signs, understanding what healthy relationships look like and knowing how to support someone experiencing abuse are important steps toward prevention and safety.
Community Resource Center provides comprehensive support for people experiencing domestic violence, including a confidential 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter at Carol’s House, transitional housing, counseling, case management and legal advocacy. CRC also provides education and prevention programs that help youth and adults recognize unhealthy behaviors and develop healthy relationship skills.
“We are united in recognizing that everyone should be able to feel safe in their relationships and safe within their homes,” said John Van Cleef, CEO of Community Resource Center. “There is something powerful about coming together around the things that unite us for good. Through our partnership with Exposure, we can raise awareness, connect people with support and help build a community where safe, healthy relationships can thrive.”
Exposure also operates year-round programs including Skate Rising and Exposure Sesh(E), combining free skateboarding, mentorship and social-emotional learning for youth.
Community members are invited to attend Exposure Skate November 7–8 in Encinitas and join CRC and Exposure in supporting a future where everyone can experience safe and healthy relationships.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, CRC’s confidential 24-hour hotline is available at (877) 633-1112. Learn more at CRCNCC.org.
