During Women’s History Month, CRC is proud to celebrate Rebecca Nussbaum, our Chief Program Officer, and two recent honors that reflect the extraordinary impact of her leadership and service.

Rebecca was recognized by Senator Catherine Blakespear on March 6 as a 2026 Woman Who Inspires honoree in the 38th Senate District. On March 14, she also received the Community Service and Volunteerism Award at the 77th Assembly District’s 2026 Women of Impact Awards, presented by Assemblymember Tasha Boerner. These recognitions are a meaningful reflection of the dedication Rebecca brings to CRC and to our community every day.
At the Women of Impact Awards, Rebecca shared a sweet story about telling her five-year-old daughter she was receiving an award. Her daughter asked, “Mama, does this mean that you’re famous?” Rebecca replied, “No, this doesn’t mean that I’m famous. But what it does mean is that the work we do for others and for our community matters.” Her words were a heartfelt reminder that service, community and compassion are at the center of all she does.
Rebecca is a compassionate leader who has strengthened support for North County neighbors experiencing hunger, homelessness, trauma and economic instability. Over two decades at CRC, she advanced from case manager to Chief Program Officer, helping build programs and partnerships that support individuals and families as they move beyond crisis toward long-term housing stability, healing and self-sufficiency.
Since becoming Chief Program Officer in 2021, Rebecca has helped expand CRC’s reach from serving more than 6,400 individuals to more than 8,600 people annually. She provides leadership across CRC’s Healthy Foods, Stable Homes, Safe Relationships and Behavioral Health service areas, strengthening program effectiveness, sustainability and trauma-informed practice.
Rebecca’s leadership is grounded in frontline experience and survivor-centered care. From strengthening trauma-informed services to helping expand access to food and housing support, her work has helped shape CRC’s response to the needs of our community. Rebecca’s impact extends beyond CRC through systems-change advocacy. She serves on the Steering Committee of the San Diego Domestic Violence Council and previously served on the Board of Directors of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence.
We are very grateful for Rebecca’s leadership and all that she brings to CRC. Please join us in congratulating her on these well-deserved recognitions.
