Community Resource Center Recognized as 2023 Nonprofit of the Year

CRC is honored to receive the 2023 Carlsbad Business Achievement & Distinction (CBAD) Award!

On April 24, Community Resource Center was recognized by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce with a 2023 Carlsbad Business Achievement & Distinction (CBAD) Award in the Nonprofit of the Year category.

We are honored to receive this award in recognition of our work to provide economically vulnerable North County households with food, housing and safety from domestic violence. Founded in 1979, Community Resource Center (CRC) improves the community’s quality of life by providing person-centered, trauma-informed care designed to help people achieve self-sufficiency.

CRC’s Chief Executive Officer, John Van Cleef, shares: “CRC is an expression of Carlsbad’s compassion and care of your neighbors in need.”

According to John Van Cleef, “COVID exposed that many people were vulnerable to a lack of healthy food, housing, and domestic violence and the need has only increased since that time. CRC is seeing an increased number of people accessing our services with the cost of food and housing increasing.”

CRC served 6,400 people last year through our various programs, with approximately 50 families per day receiving food. Last year, CRC distributed $500,000 in rental assistance that not only helped people experiencing homelessness but also prevented those at risk from losing their homes.

Thank you to the Chamber for highlighting the individuals and organizations making a difference in our community!
