On display now through March 16, 2025, the “My Intimate Partner” exhibition at the Oceanside Museum of Art presents powerful artwork that reflects the resilience and strength of survivors of domestic violence. We are grateful to Oceanside Museum of Art and curator Smadar Samson for their dedication to this transformative project. We encourage everyone to visit and experience this powerful exhibition, which reminds us of the strength that exists within every survivor’s story.
Through a meaningful collaboration between curator Smadar Samson and CRC’s counseling team, the exhibit incorporates quotes from survivors, capturing their journeys from hardship to healing. These quotes offer insight into the survivors’ journeys, from survival—“My self-worth was in his hands. There is only a void inside where I once was”—to the transformative process of healing and reclaiming life: “I have to recognize that I’m in recovery from an abusive relationship—reclaiming life, hope, and possibility.”
We shared this exhibition as part of our outreach for October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but this exhibit is a reminder that the work of raising awareness and supporting survivors is a year-round mission. We encourage everyone to continue learning about domestic violence and supporting survivors year-round. Together, we can build a community that stands strong against violence and fosters healing and hope for all.
