A New Beginning
Liliana’s journey is one of extraordinary courage. Fleeing domestic abuse with her two young children, 9‑year‑old Lorenzo and 5‑year‑old Leonel, Liliana was determined to create a better life for her family.
Liliana and her children were welcomed into Carol’s House, our emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence. Here, they received comprehensive services including trauma-informed care, counseling, case management and essential resources such as nutritious food.

Our Therapeutic Children’s Center provided the space and care for Lorenzo and Leonel to begin to heal, while allowing Liliana to focus on her own recovery and next steps for her family.
Liliana and her family moved from our shelter to our Transitional Housing program and now have a safe apartment of their own, with rental support while Liliana continues to build her income and savings.
Today, Liliana works as a Food Handler for a local school and is attending classes in child development. Along with ongoing counseling services and regular visits to our food and nutrition center, she continues to build a stronger, more independent future for herself and her children.
Liliana often expresses heartfelt gratitude for the CRC team’s support and remains motivated to work on increasing her income and savings. Every day, survivors like Liliana overcome obstacles with resilience and hope—and CRC is here to stand by them every step of the way.
