Cooler weather and shorter days signal that the seasons are changing. Sometimes the switch from summer to fall and winter can pass in the blink of an eye. But for people experiencing a season of hunger, homelessness or hurt, the days are unbearably long. That was certainly the case for Ashley when she connected with Community Resource Center’s Domestic Violence program.
Years of living in an abusive relationship robbed Ashley of her home and job — but that abuse could not steal her hope. She came to Community Resource Center looking for ways to reclaim her life and stability. For Ashley, that meant obtaining help paying back rent, counseling for her mental health, healthy food from our pantry, encouragement to start a job search, and professional clothing to wear on interviews from Community Resource Center’s resale store. All of this support added to Ashley’s confidence she could rebuild her life and solidified her determination to find a job — and she did just that.
At Community Resource Center, we firmly believe that our hopes, not our hurts, shape our futures. Ashley’s life proves there is healing from physical and invisible wounds, and a path to claiming a brighter future. Your generosity will help thousands more experience a season of hope.
