April 6, 1926 – July 8, 2017
Written By: Rebecca Nussbaum, CRC Associate Director of Programs
As a former board member, donor, and volunteer, Nancy Atherton was a long-time supporter of CRC programs and services. She was committed to making the lives of families in need brighter. Nancy made a particular impact on the families impacted by domestic violence. Through her work with St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Del Mar, Nancy spearheaded annual projects including providing Easter Baskets to the children of Carol’s House, providing Holiday meals the families at Carol’s house, and providing household supplies to families as they graduated from the transitional housing program and moved into their own apartment in the community. Nancy touched many lives with her generosity, kindness, and compassionate service. Nancy has left an imprint on the staff and participants of CRC and she leaves a legacy that will live on through CRC’s programs and services. Nancy’s work at Carol’s House is survived through the support of a volunteer group at St. Peter’s named Nancy’s Girls that will continue her work of generosity, kindness and compassionate service to the families of Carol’s House.
