Introducing our 2024 CRC Youth Advisory Board
At CRC, we recognize the incredible impact youth can have on the world! In an effort to learn more from this important demographic, CRC established its first Youth Advisory Board (YAB) in Fall 2023. Comprised of 16 compassionate local students, the YAB members have already provided valuable insights that are helping to shape CRC’s outreach. After completing Ambassador Training and attending CRC events, they are now actively participating in mission-driven projects to further our mission.
Recently, one student took initiative on Hunger Action Day, distributing orange stickers at his school and purchasing CRC t-shirts for his social justice club, spreading awareness about food insecurity. In October, several members participated in a social media content day at our resale stores, contributing their creativity and fresh ideas to help elevate CRC’s outreach and engagement efforts. You can follow CRC’s resale stores on Instagram and Facebook to see some of the content they helped create!
Empowering Youth in North County San Diego
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) was established with three key goals:
- Youth Voice: The voice of the youth is essential now and into the future, and their perspectives need to be heard.
- Storytelling and Learning: Everyone has a story to share or a lesson to learn.
- Leadership Growth: Leadership opportunities can open doors to further growth and future roles.
“Our Youth Advisory Board members bring a fresh perspective and energy and are passionate about making a difference. We’re excited to see how their involvement will raise awareness for CRC’s mission and inspire others to take action. It’s been fun to see the returning students from last year and to see their leadership skills and advocacy for CRC increase as well!”

Meet some of our new Youth Advisory Board Members:
“I am looking to be able to be a leader for the community, helping and guiding others to know that everyone has a voice and ideas that are welcome in the world to make a change. I am very thankful for this opportunity!”
– Camila Aragon
“I think there should be more young people involved in the CRC. I volunteer on Fridays in the Food Pantry when I can. I notice that the food bank is such a happy place, and I tell my peers all the time that they should volunteer with CRC!”
– Chet Kinzelberg (pictured with an Encinitas Councilmember)
“I lost a good friend to a tragic e-bike accident, and he had lived his life with compassion for others. To honor his memory, I always ask, ‘What would Brodee do?’ That always drives me to be better, not only for myself, but for everyone around me.”
– Tyler Shaw
Youth Advisory Board in Action:
We are incredibly proud of these young people for bringing their energy, enthusiasm and leadership to CRC!
