Congratulations to Amie Defrain, our 2020 Volunteer of the Year!
For the third year, CRC is pleased to recognize one outstanding volunteer at the Annual North Coastal Philanthropy Council’s (NCPC) Volunteer of the Year Awards. While CRC has many incredible volunteers, Amie truly stands out.
Amie has volunteered for Community Resource Center’s development team for 3 years designing ads, signage and other materials to help communicate our mission and impact to the community. She worked as a consultant graphic designer for 4 months, during which the COVID-19 pandemic started. Her efforts were instrumental in pivoting our annual English Tea fundraiser to a virtual event, and to help the organization even further, she donated her services for the month of March.
In addition to her graphic design help, Amie has been volunteering at CRC’s San Marcos resale store, designing the window displays, arranging product displays and helping customers with their purchases. She has also volunteered to represent CRC at Oceanside’s Juneteenth street and resource fair for the past two years along with our San Marcos Store manager, Mary Cunningham.
During the pandemic, when many of CRC’s food pantry volunteers were unable to come in, Amie stepped up yet again, serving in the pantry to sort and store incoming food donations; she also volunteered to prepare the packets for the senior meal delivery program when we were short of help.
Her son, Cole, is also a CRC volunteer and Amie is working hard to instill in him the importance of social responsibility and volunteering skills to help those in need.
Amie has an amazing can-do attitude and is steadfast in her support of CRC and our mission. She is a caring and thoughtful volunteer, community member and friend.
Thank you to Amie for your incredible work with CRC!
