Community Resource Center is Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 76
Community Resource Center is honored to be recognized by Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath as the District 76 California Nonprofit of the Year!
Each year, California Assemblymembers and State Senators select a nonprofit from their district to be recognized for their work to provide services to those in need, promote social change, and improve the quality of life in their communities. On June 23, 2021, “California Nonprofits Day,” Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath honored Community Resource Center as the 2021 California Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 76!
CRC’s Chief Executive Officer, John Van Cleef, shares: “Thank you for shining this light on CRC. It is a tribute to the staff, volunteers and donors who help our neighbors create paths to healthy food, stable homes and safe relationships.”
The pandemic and need to address systemic racial justice issues had a distinct impact on people experiencing food insecurity, homelessness and relationship violence. CRC’s response to essential human needs in the past year included a 30% increase in food distribution per hour, a 38% increase in case management sessions and a 28% increase in calls to our domestic violence hotline.
Van Cleef adds, “CRC was able to respond to these needs because of the dedicated direct-service staff and volunteers who consistently showed up to provide these essential services, the donors who responded with generosity and the civic leaders who acted boldly to help their most vulnerable community members.”
The California Nonprofit of the Year is co-sponsored by the Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, the newly formed Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, and the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). Calnonprofits.org shares that the awards “collectively illustrate the remarkable diversity and vibrancy of California’s nonprofit community.”
