Coach: More than just a pretty bag.

In the Spring of 2021, Dawn Rodriguez, a manager and Coach Cares Ambassador at the Coach Outlet Store in Carlsbad, reached out to CRC to discuss a possible volunteer opportunity with our Resale Stores. She was particularly interested in using her experience with visual merchandising and digital marketing, and felt she and others on her team could be of use.

The collaboration came to fruition on July 14 when Dawn and Melina Rojas, another Coach manager, trained the Resale Store managers and staff on best practices for store displays and digital marketing. The training began with high praise from the Coach team to our staff, acknowledging CRC’s recent recognition as “Nonprofit of the Year.”

The one-hour training was informative, interactive and fun. The Resale store staff and Coach team worked together on a summer theme for the front display. As luck would have it, there was even a recently donated Coach purse in the store that found a place in the display.

After the training, Dawn and Melina gave mini “makeovers” to the various displays, creating what they call “moments.”  “Moments” are those places that stand out and pull the shopper in, allow them to pause, and enhance the shopping experience. They did an amazing job, and CRC looks forward to future collaborations with the Coach Team.

Fifteen percent of CRC’s annual revenue comes from the proceeds from our three Resale Stores, providing support of CRC programs to end hunger, homelessness and domestic violence in our community.  When you donate or purchase at our stores, you help a neighbor in need, so please stop by soon to check out all the great new items donated daily, do some shopping, and help support our mission.

 

 

About “Coach Cares”:

“Coach Cares” is in an initiative that is part of the Tapestry Gives volunteer program. Tapestry Gives is a global volunteering program aimed at making a positive impact on local communities. The goal is to collectively serve 100,000 volunteer hours by 2025. When choosing a local nonprofit to volunteer with, Dawn looked to support an organization that breaks cycles of inequality and lifts people up. CRC’s values were in line with what they were looking for, and the Resale Stores allowed the Coach staff to use their visual marketing expertise to teach, train and volunteer.
