Domestic violence took Amelia’s home and she suffered the devastating loss of her son.
“I was curled up in a ball. I was that beaten down. If it wasn’t for CRC, I would have been a statistic out there.”
Amelia escaped her abuser to reach safety, leaving everything behind to go to a new state. With support from her CRC case manager, Amelia found a safe apartment. CRC helped cover her first month’s rent, deposit and utilities. She gained stability with food from our pantry, clothing from our resale stores, legal advocacy to navigate next steps and healing through trauma-informed counseling.
“CRC was that continued support. They gave assistance without judgment. ‘We have your back,’ they said. They were phenomenal and got me on my feet.”
Over the next year, Amelia stayed connected with CRC for ongoing support. Today, she shared that she has a renewed sense of hope:
“If it wasn’t for CRC – the services through one on one counseling, legal counseling, my case manager checking in and sending a text – I don’t know where I would be. If it wasn’t for them, I would not be the established professional that I am in life. Now I’m stable and excelling. I absolutely had the support I needed. CRC was the backbone to who I am now.”
