Message from Our Executive Director
Laurin Pause

In 2004, Community Resource Center (CRC) created the byline “proving lives can change.” Since then, CRC has continued to create innovative programs that address real issues facing those individuals in our community who are most vulnerable. We opened Carol's House, a 24-bed emergency domestic violence shelter for women and children. We created Transitioning to Independence, an innovative program designed to help domestic violence survivors successfully integrate back into a community. We established a Food Stamps Assistance program to guide eligible applicants through the process. CRC maintains and introduces model programs that help individuals and families become self-sufficient.

In 2007 alone, CRC served more than 10,000 individuals through our comprehensive domestic violence program, social services department, and our annual Holiday Baskets program. We could not have provided these essential services and programs without the support of over 1,600 volunteers and more than 200 businesses, faith-based organizations, and community groups. The support of our community was particularly evident during the October fires, when CRC was a first responder. With the donations from our community, we were able to provide food, blankets and hygiene products to fire victims at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and other satellite emergency shelters in San Diego North County. It is the community in Community Resource Center that makes our organization successful in fulfilling its mission.

We are grateful to our donors for their generosity, and to our volunteers for their personal investment of time and talent. Our supporters allow Community Resource Center to continue to help individuals make choices that lead to safe, healthy, and self-sufficient lives. We sincerely thank you for your partnership.
